Policy: The Governing Board believes that the use of alcohol or other drugs adversely affects a student’s ability to achieve academic success, if physically and emotionally harmful, and has serious social and legal consequences. Furthermore, the Governing Board recognizes the health hazards associated with smoking and the use of tobacco products, including the breathing of second-hand smoke. The Governing Board desires to keep Julian Charter School, Inc. (JCS) free of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs in order to help prevent violence, promote school safety, create a healthy environment for students and staff. The Governing Board has deemed JCS as drug, alcohol and tobacco free environment, to be extended throughout the various school sites and surrounding area within 200 yards. The Governing Board shall adopt the Rules for Student Discipline detailing the consequences for disregarding drug, alcohol, and tobacco restrictions.
